Mac Onedrive app: shared folders don't appear in Finder any more, and files seem to be online only.

I had a folder shared with me, and I could fully sync it to my own mac - all the office files were available offline on my own mac (word, excel, ppt). It appeared as a folder in Finder in the Onedrive folder.

Since yesterday the shared folder has disappeared from finder, and all the files are no longer on the mac. They don't show up in a spotlight search. The folder has been replaced by a url that opens the shared folder online.

The folder is fully available when I access Onedrive through the web.

I can also open the shared files on Onedrive through the native Mac apps, if they appear in recent files, or browse to "Online locations", but these only show the recent locations that I had accessed through finder. I can't browse the entire folder through an app.

I have tried the following:

  • restarted the Mac
  • Signed out of Onedrive and signed back in again
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled Onedrive
  • In the web Onedrive I have clicked "add shortcut to my files". This places a url to the oneline folder in finder, which is useless.
  • Reset Onedrive via "Show Package Contents", etc....

Happening on both Mac M2 Air and Macbook Pro Intel, both have current versions of SW for both Mac and Office.

Just curious if any one is even tracking this issue any more, or if any one has recently tried to get folders back? Thanks in advance.

Today when I opened Excel I got a message to say that Microsoft co-pilot is now included in my subscription - Hurray!

I went to try it - it says it only works if Autosave is switched on.

    Autosave only works with Onedrive.

And Onedrive doesn't work properly any more.

Looks like they're working on the wrong thing.

    Hello

I'm seeing that the issue that happened with me today has already happen to a lot of you since a while...

Is it possible that Microsoft hasn't resolved this issue yet? I'm paying for a subscription for a few years now. Is this not enough? As another user wrote, to use Microsoft properly with auto save and on, we need OneDrive working properly too.

How is this technical issue going? As the topic refers, I'm a Mac user.

By the way, my iPhone shows the folders properly in the OneDrive app...

Hi Luis, Microsoft don't care about this at all. When several of us first reported the issue the Microsoft staff were responsive and indicated that the engineering team were aware of the problem, working on it, solution coming soon, thank you for your patience, etc.... At one point there was even a banner at the top of the support pages to say they were aware of Onedrive issues and a fix was on the way.

But over the last few months there has been zero response. This probably isn't important enough to fix.
