Mac Onedrive app: shared folders don't appear in Finder any more, and files seem to be online only.

I had a folder shared with me, and I could fully sync it to my own mac - all the office files were available offline on my own mac (word, excel, ppt). It appeared as a folder in Finder in the Onedrive folder.

Since yesterday the shared folder has disappeared from finder, and all the files are no longer on the mac. They don't show up in a spotlight search. The folder has been replaced by a url that opens the shared folder online.

The folder is fully available when I access Onedrive through the web.

I can also open the shared files on Onedrive through the native Mac apps, if they appear in recent files, or browse to "Online locations", but these only show the recent locations that I had accessed through finder. I can't browse the entire folder through an app.

I have tried the following:

  • restarted the Mac
  • Signed out of Onedrive and signed back in again
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled Onedrive
  • In the web Onedrive I have clicked "add shortcut to my files". This places a url to the oneline folder in finder, which is useless.
  • Reset Onedrive via "Show Package Contents", etc....

Happening on both Mac M2 Air and Macbook Pro Intel, both have current versions of SW for both Mac and Office.

seems we'll have to leak this to news and tech portals so the bad press will kickstart some real movement in their debug team, because either this is a "new feature" being tested to see our reaction, or they are having a REALLY TRULY serious problem and focusing enterprize accounts

    Hi, all & DavidSwan2

    Chandy,

With all due respect, I don't have any more patience or understanding.

This has been a major issue with the service for almost a month now.

It is absolutely unreasonable that Microsoft continue to take money from people with providing the service that is promised as part of the agreement.

All you have said in all of your updates is, virtually, 'we're looking into it'.

That response is totally inadequate. We are PAYING customers and we deserve to know more of what is going on.

If you are unable to provide more detail on this matter, then have someone with the authority respond to this forum and to thousands of users suffering from this issue (an email update to all users would be a logical way to communicate this).

The complete lack of action and communication on this issue is concerning.

    1. Why has Microsoft still not been able to fix this problem?
    2. Why has Microsoft refused to adequately communicate to it's paying users?
    3. When will the issue be rectified?
    4. Is my data actually safe or has Microsoft been compromised?

As stated above, I ask that you provide a more thorough update on this issue and provide answers to the questions above.

If you cannot do that - get someone who can.

Same issue here (on Mac) but strangely this only affect one my shared folder (out of 3).

No big deal as Onedrive is not my main cloud drive, but was sharing data with some of my customer.
Currently backuping my full OneDrive into Dropbox and iCloud Drive just in case MS loose my data.
