Watermark Error 400

All of a sudden, when inserting a picture watermark into MSWord. I am getting this

HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long..

I have cleared the cookies from Google Chrome.

Microsoft 365 and Office | Word | For home | Windows

    none of these solutions have worked for me. The problem has only just happened last week, after some windows updates. Now it is slowly creeping through the firm as these updates happen. This is vital to us as we use it for electronic letterheads. our only work around at the moment is to save as PDF and then print then print the PDF!!!

    when will there be a solution to this bug?

    1. No one here can tell you when something will be fixed, or even that it will be fixed. This is a user-to-user support forum. -- You can give feedback TO MICROSOFT designers and decision makers on Microsoft Word or other Microsoft Products (using their feedback mechanisms, not here)
    2. Did you try disabling connected experiences or working off-line?
    3. Did you try inserting a faded/semi-transparent image in your header in lieu of inserting a watermark?

    This problem has been reported to Microsoft. The latest word from my Word contact is:

    The bug we have tracking this is still open and the crew is investigating. We’re unable to repro internally, so the team is trying to gather more information. I was able to reproduce the issue shortly after it was reported, but it resolved itself on my end. 

     

    If you’re able to collect information from users, the crew is looking to confirm if the issue occurs with all these entry points: 

     

    • Ribbon > Insert > Pictures > Online Pictures.
    • Ribbon > Home > Paragraph > Bullet Library > Define New Bullet > Picture > Bing Image Search
    • Ribbon > Design > Watermark > Custom Watermark > Picture Watermark > Select Picture

     

    If one of these gives the HTTP error, do the other scenarios listed here work? 

    Just an updated report from the field:

    • Insert online pictures works fine.
    • Define new bullet from picture generates the error
    • Custom Watermark - picture generates the error.

    Release 2404 Current Channel Microsoft 365 build 17425.201176 CTR

    checked for and downloaded updates - re-ran, same results

    Release 2404 Current Channel Microsoft 365 build 17531.20080 CTR

    thanks for the update, currently none of these work for me and all produce the same error.

    i can make this work but going offline but for some reason it then will not print the watermark.
