High CPU for multiple processes Microsoft 365

In the last several days I have noticed my laptop CPU fan blowing constantly. The culprit seems to be 4 identical processes using the same amount of CPU as each other continuously hovering at about 8-12%. This keeps the fan blowing 24/7.

The Task Manager shows the Process name as "Microsoft 365 and Office (32 bit)" and no Office applications are running. When I view the details the executable names are "odt____.tmp.exe" with the underscores representing some 3- 4-character hex value, e.g. C67A.

I can end the tasks but they come back after a time and the CPU fan turns on again.

What are these processes and can I turn them off?

    Same issue here.

    I restart the computer (cause the files are in use and I couldn't stop them in task manager) and delete the files in C:\Windows\Temp, but I save the .txt logs in another location before deleting them too.

    It stops the high usage of CPU and 3 days passed, it is not back yet. But the reason this happened...no idea.

    I've done a similar thing. Deleted all of the odt____.tmp.exe files from C:\Windows\Temp. Deleted all of the odt____.tmp files as well. No restart, but the processes are not coming back after a few hours.

    I'll report back after some time if it has stopped them from propagating. I also have no idea what these processes are or what is running them. It would be nice if someone from Microsoft could chime in here.

    We have the same issue across multiple Windows 10 laptops. For us however, the odtXXXX.tmp.exe files cannot be found in C:\temp despite the fact task manager says that's where they are located. I deleted everything from C:\Temp and rebooted, but a few hours later one of the rogue processes was back again. Task manager tells me the files are signed by Microsoft Corporation and have an original filename of Bootstrapper.exe

    Yeah. No luck with deleting those files in the Temp directory. The Microsoft 365 and Office (32 bit) processes are back.
