Copilot not creating presentations from word documents...

Hi, I recently purchased a subscription for copilot pro. All my office apps are up to date and I can see the copilot button in the ribbon. The issue I am having is that copilot won't create a presentation in powerpoint form a file - it has no idea what I'm talking about. Has anyone experienced this and found a fix?

Conor (and all the other folks who've been having trouble with this missing feature):

TL;DR: Those of us with regular Office subscriptions cannot use this feature.

Microsoft has done a less than stellar job of explaining the new CoPilot feature and which versions of Office get what features.

The ability to create a presentation from a Word file is only available to users who:

a) Have an ENTERPRISE license for Office 365, and

b) Whose enterprise bosses have paid the $30/month per user fee for CoPilot

The *specific* name of the required product is "Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365" as distinct from CoPilot or CoPilot Pro.

    I have the same issue. I have Microsoft 365 Personal License. and I added Microsoft Copilot Pro monthly.

    I do see copilot in Powerpoint.

    Create a presentation from <URL to a word document on One Drive>

    Copilot replied - "I can't do that with this account. If you paste in text from another document, I can help you rewrite or design it."

    Update: I was mistaken when I posted earlier. I was not able to get it to work once. It used the name of the file to generate content, not the actual file.

    I spoke with Microsoft Support and found someone who explained this feature is not available.for Personal.accounrs, only business.

    One of the instruction videos includes referring to a file name using @. Start typing the file name after @ and it brings up files to select. That does not happen with personal. It seems.to be a backend issue.. There's no way for copilot to search for or access files on a personal one drive account. Possibly because there's no Microsoft Graph connection. It works fine on business but there we also get copilot in Teams where you can ask questions about and refer to documents and data.

    Summary: despite being advertised, this feature is not available for personal copilot pro M365 users. At least not yet.

    Thanks for all your patience, and for bringing this to our attention. My apologies for the delayed response.

    As we all know, Copilot and Copilot Pro is still in preview mode and some features as still developing. We consulted this to our internal team and confirmed that this feature is currently not yet available. Our engineering team is currently working on it and make sure to include this on the next updates. For now, we don't have a timeline yet as to when would this be fully available but just make sure to enable auto update in Word so it will be applied to your version as soon as it's rolled out.

    Respectfully, that caveat is not what is displayed in the marketing material for Copilot Pro. It appears that some of the marketing material that I saw before paying for a licence has removed the feature in question, but there is still some out there spruiking a feature that does not appear to be functional.

    This is really pretty disingenuous and misleading marketing, in my opinion. I presume that Microsoft will offer refunds for Copilot Pro and associated licences purchased under this inducement.
