Copilot not creating presentations from word documents...

Hi, I recently purchased a subscription for copilot pro. All my office apps are up to date and I can see the copilot button in the ribbon. The issue I am having is that copilot won't create a presentation in powerpoint form a file - it has no idea what I'm talking about. Has anyone experienced this and found a fix?

Conor (and all the other folks who've been having trouble with this missing feature):

TL;DR: Those of us with regular Office subscriptions cannot use this feature.

Microsoft has done a less than stellar job of explaining the new CoPilot feature and which versions of Office get what features.

The ability to create a presentation from a Word file is only available to users who:

a) Have an ENTERPRISE license for Office 365, and

b) Whose enterprise bosses have paid the $30/month per user fee for CoPilot

The *specific* name of the required product is "Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365" as distinct from CoPilot or CoPilot Pro.

    I even tried to get a trial version of business standard, but, it does not help that I have Copilot pro, you got to buy "Copilot for Microsoft 365" - and that kost 30 dollar a month, but is only able to be paid for a year or 3. So then I quit it all and will be waiting for apples solution for personal use. The issue here is that personal users see Office 365, and go for the office package. But there is a way bigger software package for business and schools, that's called "Microsoft 365" and "Microsoft 365 education". This then seem to be a BIG misunderstanding or misguiding. For not to speak of marketing. It's not mentioned in any videos etc. Microsoft would gain so much users if they let this piece go in with copilot pro for personal use.

    when will this be fixed? When buying copilot pro, we sure did buy it to make it easy to use make a presentation from file. And when I'm calling support, they have never heard of this issue. And they put me over from norewegian support to support for business, and they put me back, and I get a short message that they are busy now please call later. One thing for sure, apple got much better support. And this is misleading marketing. Why does it answer that I got to have work og school account, can't I be creating myself a presentation based on anything else I been writing? Stupid thing. If this is real. See it doesn't work for business also. Please make this work. I even baught Sharepoint because of this if that was the problem. It was NOT. Nice wrapping but no content. And this thread been going for months. And no solution.

    I am the Administrator of the account and licensing. We have Enterprise licences already assigned to the users that have tried to use the feature and we cannot use it. So the licensing issue is still there and has not been attended to.

    Very poor form of MS to launch a product that has not been thoroughly tested.

    In essence:

    • Have correct E1 license
    • Have MS365 Premium licence
    • Have paid the $30.00 PM for copilot for office 365

    Outcome:

    • not connecting or reading MS files to create presentations.

    Hi Froilance,

    Same issue. I hope that Microsoft's product and marketing people get feedback--it is quite a fail to have customers pay a good bit of money for a time-saving productivity tool only to see that it doesn't work after hours of confusion. This seems like it should be a straightforward subscription, or at least clear in what it DOESN'T do. Somehow, something that should be quite simple is not simple.

    I hope that there's some clarity and a solution before long.
