Copilot not creating presentations from word documents...

Hi, I recently purchased a subscription for copilot pro. All my office apps are up to date and I can see the copilot button in the ribbon. The issue I am having is that copilot won't create a presentation in powerpoint form a file - it has no idea what I'm talking about. Has anyone experienced this and found a fix?

Conor (and all the other folks who've been having trouble with this missing feature):

TL;DR: Those of us with regular Office subscriptions cannot use this feature.

Microsoft has done a less than stellar job of explaining the new CoPilot feature and which versions of Office get what features.

The ability to create a presentation from a Word file is only available to users who:

a) Have an ENTERPRISE license for Office 365, and

b) Whose enterprise bosses have paid the $30/month per user fee for CoPilot

The *specific* name of the required product is "Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365" as distinct from CoPilot or CoPilot Pro.

Hi Froiliance,

I can't provide screen shots of my build and licences at the moment, but I purchased a M365 licence at teh same time as the Copilot licence (about 4 days ago now). Hopefully that gives you some surety about it being up to date.

Please also note that I have had this issue on my PC, the web version, and on a Mac (which I updated, purchased a M365 and Copilot Pro licence for). To date, I have yet to hear of anyone being able to use this feature of Copilot. Can you do it on your version?

Hi peninasharon,

I am 100% not an expert in this area (I posted the original question for some context), but as far as I am aware, a standard Copilot licence is free to use, whereas Copilot Pro has an associated fee. You should be able to log in to your Microsoft account (go to account.microsoft.com or find it by searching on your web browser). From there, you should be able to see your subscriptions, including if you have Copilot Pro.

Your note is interesting:

I purchased my Copilot license through a live support technician. I did not ask them for Copilot Pro. I told them I had a Microsoft 365 Personal license and asked simply for Copilot. I trusted them/Microsoft to provide me with the license that would work with what they understood I had. In fact, while on the call, they helped me move my MS 365 account to another email address—so I am absolutely sure they knew and understood what type of account I had.

Please confirm: If they had sold me the Copilot for Microsoft 365 license to accompany my existing Microsoft 365 Personal license, would I be accessing ALL the features promoted on the website and in the Support pages?

I'll add to the chorus. Same issues here. Copilot simply refuses to create a presentation whether based on a Word document or direct prompt.
