Authenticator App on Apple Vision Pro

Are there any immediate plans to bring the Authenticator app to the Vision Pro?

I was really excited to use the Vision Pro for my office apps with a major focus on Teams. Sadly, I am unable to use Teams with my corporate ID as I am required to have the Authenticator App on the device on which I am using Teams. As a result, I am unable to use the Teams app on the Vision Pro. Given that this is pretty common for large organizations, I am really surprised Microsoft did not prioritize this app for the Vision Pro.

My tongue was firmly in my cheek when I typed that last sentence. Having said that, given the inadequate communication from Microsoft on this subject, I do feel like we’re entitled to some clarity here.

A class action against who exactly? Microsoft because you bought an Apple product that they haven’t yet released software for, or Apple because Microsoft hasn’t released an app on their platform?

I’m just as disappointed and annoyed as everyone else that there’s no Authenticator app yet for the Apple Vision Pro, but we’re crossing into ridiculous levels of entitlement here.

Microsoft is completely aware of this issue.

For example, Microsoft’s April 16 announcement of OneNote for the AVP, said “Microsoft Authenticator is not currently available for the Apple Vision Pro. We're working on it, though, so check back for updates soon.”

    See https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-blog/microsoft-onenote-now-available-on-apple-vision-pro/ba-p/4115959.

If you try to authenticate a Microsoft 365 app on the AVP you are taken to a page that says “To continue, you must install the Microsoft Authenticator app and register your device. It helps keep organizational data more secure,” and then you are presented with a link that says “Get the app.” That link takes you to an App Store page for Authenticator that says that the Authenticator app is for iOS devices only, and can’t be installed on the AVP. That App Store page contains many dozens of comments asking why the Authenticator hasn’t been updated (but no responses or explanations from Microsoft).

In the nearly four month period since the AVP was released Microsoft has updated the Microsoft Authenticator app on the App Store at least three times, but has still not enabled the app to work on the AVP. All this time, except for the “check back soon” messages, there’s been a complete lack of communication from Microsoft on this issue.

The communication from Microsoft at the time the AVP was released did not clearly say that without the Authenticator app, the other Microsoft 365 apps (which were highly publicized) would not work for many enterprise users. As a result, many of us spent more than $4,000 for a device with the expectation that that device could be used for work — and now, four months later, find ourselves with very expensive devices that are great for media consumption, but not much more.

It’s profoundly disappointing that this is taking so long and the communication has been so unhelpful. My understanding has always been that Microsoft (or Microsoft MVPs) read this forum. At this point, I’m wondering if any class action attorneys might also read this forum.

Has anybody on this thread actually opened a ticket with Microsoft on this issue?

I know Microsoft and Apple aren't quite the best of friends however I would expect if you are launching Microsoft Office, including Teams onto the Apple Vision Pro platform, you would include Microsoft Authenticator. Many Microsoft customers who are larger companies use Teams and it would be nice to have Authenticator to use Microsoft Products.
