"To choose what voice you hear while using Read Aloud, sign in with your Microsoft account."

Each time I press the READ ALOUD button, it gives me this error message:

"To choose what voice you hear while using Read Aloud, sign in with your Microsoft account."

But I am signed into my MS account.

It appears that my credentials cannot be verified. When this happens, MS Word defaults to the 3 built-in voices.

Any ideas?

Hi guys -

Looks like it's now been fixed (11:30am (UK) time).

Restart your computers.

Thank you, Suzanne, for the useful advice. I also did as you suggested. Hope to see a solution forthcoming soon.

On 11th I got support involved.

Gave them remote access to my system. He didn't do anything I hadn't already tried (reboot/repair)

He ended up telling me that robotic Susan, Hazel etc were the only options????

I don't think he knew what he was doing

Previously, when I've had this issue, support have fixed it with 'repair' function

but this isn't working this time??

Not going to lie guys, I'm really frustrated!

I need read aloud for work & use it daily!

Why aren't the easy to understand voices not available offline? and standard? Surely NO ONE ever wants the robotic voices?

Considering the amount we pay for this I think it's deserved!

I did some testing. Here is what I figured out so far: My work account works fine on our RDS (server 2019)/Word (this server has managed updates). Neither account works on my Windows 11 computer. I use a local group policy to limit my windows updates to when I want them. Something changed July 10/11 to break it. Like everyone else I've tried logging in and out.

    yep! have done the same!

    Thank you Suzanne!

I am a little surprised it's been two days since the crash of the good read aloud and we've heard nothing from Microsoft officially yet?

Anyone got any feedback from reporting it? I assume it should come through to our emails?
