Editor's similarity checker not working

3/25 It's back!

I'm not sure if it works on every document, but it worked on one of mine!

(Edit on 4/26) It works on some documents but not on others... Does anyone else have the same problem?

Someone in the comment section said "The latest word, as of today, is "The latest update in the bug is that there are still some approvals that the team is waiting on. The Word team is treating this as a high-priority incident and is working to have this restored as soon as possible.". So anyone wondering for any updates, there it is...

    Thanks, Stefan. Will a moderator be coming back to this thread to help resolve the issue? I posted the information they asked the OP to help diagnose the issue.

    I was on chat with an agent who pointed me to this post as the place to get help two days ago, and I would really like to get this resolved. Or at least know that Microsoft is working on it.

    I am not aware of an open bug regarding this (but I could have missed something). Have you reported it using the feedback facility, such as Help > Feedback in Word for Windows?

    Thanks again for replying, Stefan. I think the fact that 43 people have said they have this question too signals that there is something bigger going on, but I realize you are not an employee.

    I just filled out the feedback in Word to report the problem as you suggested, so maybe that will help get attention on it.

    It is frustrating because I did an online chat with a Microsoft agent on 11/13 and the suggestion was to get help on this thread. No Microsoft moderators have responded since 11/10, though. Again, not your fault, but if you can do anything further to ensure it is getting looked at, I would appreciate it.

    Agreed, not working for me for a few days, trying two different Microsoft accounts, and both online and desktop versions, as well as two different laptops.

    The desktop app now fails to show the similarity checker altogether, and the browser version asks me to refresh, then eventually tells me that I have reached my 24 hour limit of 30,000 words, despite no checks being carried out.

    The word from the Word team yesterday was "A bug was opened on this, and it is under investigation. It looks like the team has a lead on the source of the issue based on the latest notes."
