3/25 It's back!
I'm not sure if it works on every document, but it worked on one of mine!
(Edit on 4/26) It works on some documents but not on others... Does anyone else have the same problem?

Someone in the comment section said "The latest word, as of today, is "The latest update in the bug is that there are still some approvals that the team is waiting on. The Word team is treating this as a high-priority incident and is working to have this restored as soon as possible.". So anyone wondering for any updates, there it is...
Thank you!
(I will try my best to look for any updates given in this comment section)

Hi Susan, is there any kind of link that we can follow up the progress over this bug?
The moderators identified as Microsoft Agents are indeed contract employees (employees of a firm contracted by Microsoft to provide support), but they are not part of the Word team. Although they can report to Microsoft, they are not in a position to change anything in the software, which is why it is usually more productive to send feedback directly to Microsoft.
We MVPs do have direct contact with the Word team, and in this case, we have been told that this issue has been logged as a bug and is being investigated, but neither we nor they have any idea when a fix will be available. But that's why more feedback may be helpful, not just to put on more pressure but perhaps to provide more useful information on version, platform, etc.
Again, Suzanne, I appreciate your engagement here.
I have never been on the forum previously; a Microsoft tech sent me to this thread specifically to get help when he couldn't solve the issue. There were two moderators listed as Microsoft Agents who replied early on and never came back (Stacey Feng and Sean Cai). So these facts suggested to me that there could be official Microsoft knowledge here, not just volunteers.
Again, not your fault that MS customer service is not great, but that's where some of us are coming from.
If the only way to get official Microsoft attention is to use the Feedback feature, perhaps that would be a more helpful thing to share when people want an update (or even haven't read all the replies).
I wasn't replying to you but to Bob Ritchie, who wrote:
We pay lots of money for this software, some of use it to support our livelihood. Posting over and over again that Microsoft is aware of the problem is poor customer service. Please solve the issue!!!!!
I just wanted to clarify that neither I nor anyone else here is in a position to "solve the issue!!!!!"
