How did my Save As page change? (Word, Windows 10)

Since I got my computer years ago, when I clicked "Save As", my Desktop and recently used folders were the list of options. The past 3 - 4 days, instead of the usual locations, it's One Drive.

I DID NOT change things so how did this happen and how can I change it back. It is a true pain in my butt to have to click a bunch of stuff just to get to my Desktop.!

Every time Windows updates, something I didn't want to happen, happens. The ONLY other time this happened was back when Microsoft sabotages Windows XP. Seriously wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    How did you change, or try to change, the default save location? Describe the symptoms which convinced you that it didn't work.

    Remember that changing the default save location only apply to future files that you create. Any existing documents that are saved to OneDrive must be downloaded manually (for example in your web browser via https://onedrive.live.com).

    If you are running Windows 10, the Settings may be different from those of Windows 11. (Unfortunately, I don't have Windows 10 on any computer, so I can't test it.)

    Did you have any luck changing the default save locations in Word?

    Which version of Windows are you running? The available Windows settings, and their locations, will depend on the version.

    You should be able to change the default save locations for Office applications from within Word (for example). That will be easier. See my previous reply.

    In Word for Windows, you can press F12 (or Fn+F12 on some keyboards) to go directly to the classic Save As dialog box.

    To prevent Office applications from saving to OneDrive by default, do the following: Click File > Options > Save. Select the option "Save to Computer by default." Specify a "Default local file location" if necessary. You may also want to clear the "Show additional places for saving, even if sign-in may be required."

    It sounds like the default save location for your files has changed to OneDrive. This can happen after a Windows update or if you have recently installed or updated OneDrive on your computer. You can change the default save location back to your computer by following these steps:

    1. Open any Office application, such as Word or Excel.
    2. Click on File > Options > Save.
    3. In the Save documents section, check the box next to Save to Computer by default.
    4. You can also set the default local file location by clicking on Browse next to Default local file location and selecting the folder where you want to save your files by default.
    5. Click on OK to save your changes.

    After following these steps, when you click on "Save As," your Desktop and recently used folders should be listed as options again.
