Excel and Word keep displaying a banner when I open a file "BACKUP THIS DOCUMENT - Access this file anywhere with OneDrive included in your subscription"
I have a backup system I use that I like and I don't need OneDrive to backup my files. How do I get OneDrive/Office 365/Windows to stop giving me this prompt?
I click the "X" or Schedule Backup Later to make the banner go away, but it just comes back a little while later. I've opened up the OneDrive app from the system tray and unselected everything from the OneDrive backup, but none of this helps and the prompt keeps coming back.
How do I get this to stop?

Sorry to hear that didn't work.
It is truly maddening that Microsoft would push this at us, over and over again. I'd be fine with a single banner suggesting OneDrive, but it should have a "Don't ask me again" option! Or at least an easy checkbox setting somewhere to turn it off.
I’ve been struggling with this myself over the last few months, so I looked over every single option, to see if I could find anything to fix it, and I may have found it.
In theExceloptions, there is a section at the very end called“Trust Center”, and there I clicked on“Trust Center Settings...”.
Under that there is a section called“Message Bar”, which I believe is the name given to the line that displays the backup warning message (and others).
After selecting that section, I noticed there is a subsection called“Policy Tips”, so I disabled the option ...“Show Policy Tip in the Message Bar. Turning this off will disable all Policy Tips unless your organization requires it."
For now, it seems to have worked, but I will have to wait longer to confirm.EDIT: To test it, I cleared the "KFMLastDismissTimestamp" registry entry, and the annoying nag message came back.
So, the above does not help!
I found a similar setting in Word's "Trust Center". Running the same test to see if this is better than the KFM... patch, got the same disappointing result.
Or is there anyone at Microsoft that even cares what their customers want?

I've been running the registry patch every day to reset the nag date.
But now, the nag is back in Word (and, I assume, every other Office app).
There must be some new code that uses a different reminder switch.
Any ideas?

Still working for me (so far), in Word and Excel. Are you sure your script is running successfully?
Check the value at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\KFM, "KFMLastDismissTimestamp"
You can convert the decimal number (the one in parenthesis) to a standard date using an online converter. Search the web for "epoch time converter", and enter that number. If the corresponding date does not reflect the last time you ran the script, then the script isn't running successfully.
