I think uninstalling OD is user-by-user. I uninstalled for one of my users, and on that account, OD no longer appeared as an app. On another account on the same laptop, OD continued to appear as an app.

However, other commentators have noted that Micro$oft might reinstall OD with future Windows updates. Probably, the command/PowerShell file is the best solution.

You are reminding me of HP calculators. Once they catered to the highly skilled technical elite, and they were the best. But they are no longer in that business. The day is coming when you will have to pay a premium for an antique if you want a handheld computing platform that cannot spy on you.

The 'fix' is easy.

• If you need to use OneDrive, use the registry patch code provided much earlier in this discussion.
• If you don't need or want OneDrive, uninstall it.

My experience (and feelings) are exactly the same as the OP.

I write software for a living so I (pretty much) know what I'm doing. I use Microsoft products all day every day and, in general, find them superior to other, similar, products. Having said that, things like this (which could easily be fixed) are annoying. Granted, this is a small deal but it suggests Microsoft doesn't care.

Certainly, Microsoft is top dog when it comes to business software but, it's uncanny how quickly that status can slip away. Does anyone remember Microsoft's phone/handheld offerings? Windows Mobile was indisputably the best and most capable system available. But Microsoft sat on their hands while Apple and Google took the entire market from them.

Couldn't happen with Office? Don't be so sure. Wake up Microsoft.
