Excel and Word keep displaying a banner when I open a file "BACKUP THIS DOCUMENT - Access this file anywhere with OneDrive included in your subscription"
I have a backup system I use that I like and I don't need OneDrive to backup my files. How do I get OneDrive/Office 365/Windows to stop giving me this prompt?
I click the "X" or Schedule Backup Later to make the banner go away, but it just comes back a little while later. I've opened up the OneDrive app from the system tray and unselected everything from the OneDrive backup, but none of this helps and the prompt keeps coming back.
How do I get this to stop?

My problem with LibreOffice and the other open source versions of Office is the outright thievery involved. I'm sure MS didn't spend millions (billions?) on developing Office over the years just for a bunch of basement coders to rip off their IP and build an exact copy.

How about you answer the person's question? How do you switch off the prompt to save your documents to OneDrive?
My fix-actions originally took care of this problem, and I've been nag-free for over 4 months. (My fixes are listed in the post dated 16 Dec 2024.) Then, about a week ago, the nag banner came back, so, I came back here looking for any new ideas. It turns out, no one has any news ideas.
I went back through all of the fixes that were previously recommended, starting with Page 1 of this thread. When I got to my own post (dated 16 Dec 2024), I rechecked all of my settings, and found some of my work had been undone, probably by a MS update.
If you had success using the fix "uncheck the Microsoft Experience option in Account", go check it now... mine was re-enabled. I've unchecked it again. All of my other fixes were still in place. The "enable MS Experience" was the only one re-enabled which points directly to an update.
