Office Home and Student 2019 for Mac not functioning anymore as of today: Forced to buy a new license??? Unethical!!!

I totally agree! how can they get away with this???? forcing us to upgrade and trying to get everyone into a subscription-based model is not only unethical, it's illegal. I think there should be a class action lawsuit against microsoft for this obvious money-grab. gross.

Yes, I don’t want to cave but I tried Numbers, and I do not have enough time to transfer all my documents to it, nor learn how to use it. They are charging way too much to justify buying into it. I wonder what companies are doing that use it on many desktops? Do you have to buy the same license for every user? That would be very expensive.

So stuck, but at least we know what the problem is now, I did think it was my computer, but not anymore.

Hi Michael, I’m still using Office 2019 but I am pulling my hair out. It seems it has a big brick on it, and I’m sure that is what they want to force me in to buying their monthly/annual plan. I took the largest spread sheet that I used daily, and removed all extra tabs, colors, and moved formulas within the documents pages to another spreadsheet. I also found the Activity Monitor on my computer so I can check my memory isn’t being consumed with opened programs, and clear my cache daily. I am able to crawl through my work to get things done but obviously there is no way out without buying into their program, or buy the newer version which will be probably considered outdated next year. I’m stuck….now I need to find out if I do buy into their monthly paid software, do I need to remove my old one?

I think we are left with no other choice but to buy into their program or find something else to use, which is not possible, I like you, have everything on excel, and I have worked with it for as long as it existed.

I am in the same state as you. Only for me, I am pulling my hair out about using Outlook. Most of my Excel sheets I have been able to make work in Numbers, but Numbers is not Excel and Apple Mail is not Outlook. I wish Apple's software designers would do a better job. The Mac hardware is better than Windows but Mail and Numbers are not better. They are nowhere as close to Office for Mac as they should be. They should be better.

I am not going to buy something that bills me monthly. I am not going to buy from a company that goes back on their word either.
