With the removal of Video Editor on Windows 10, we thought we could use Clipchamp.

But even with the announcement of Clipchamp for business we can't get access with a A5 licence.

Will Clipchamp be included in Educational licences soon?

Hello everyone - thanks so much for commenting here and on other sites such as the Clipchamp feedback portal. It certainly helps us respond and prioritise our work.

Today I can share another update, we have an EDU launch announcement for Clipchamp coming to A3 & A5 SKUs (students and staff) - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/education-blog/what-s-new-in-microsoft-edu-may-2024/ba-p/4132818

We're preparing further information that we'll make available on the Microsoft 365 roadmap and in the message center for your M365 admins soon.

I am still waiting for ClipChamp, but have found the “Microsoft Photos Legacy” in the new MS Store on Intune.

You have to search for it by its Package Identifier “9NV2L4XVMCXM” as it has been hidden by name. However, this will bring back the old Photos app that has the built-in video editor we used to have.

Frustrating that we still don't have access to use ClipChamp with academic licenses when currently available with corresponding Enterprise E3/E5 licenses. This is especially needed with video trimming options not currently available in the new Stream on SharePoint. The process for a teacher to simply trim the end of a Teams meeting recording is wildly inefficient right now.

The lack of communication on this has been very frustrating. A separate post here as well dates to September. Over 3000 views between these two posts, many votes on the feedback portal topic, but still nothing even listed on the roadmap.

To remove the functionality from Windows, advertise the transition to ClipChamp on our teacher and student Windows machines, force everyone to Stream on SharePoint without and ability to edit video... this has all been a big letdown. I guess we will continue to direct teachers and students to use Canva for now, even though we pay for A5 licenses for all our users.

I am still waiting for the Clipchimp A5 license and don't even see that on the Roadmap. Any news on the license for education?
