One Drive Not Working with Mac OS 14 Sonoma

My OneDrive is not syncing with Mac OS Sonoma.

I am getting the "you must restart OneDrive to continue syncing this location" message.

File access and copying are not working. The Finder hangs on "preparing to copy…" The copy never happens and I have lost access on the Mac to all of my OneDrive files. I can see them. They are one the OneDrive server. But, on the Mac I cannot open the file, download or copy to another location.

As all of my work is in the OneDrive Folder, I am frozen out of all of my files.

I can confirm that this general approach works. Starting again and using a new location for your OneDrive files seems to do the trick. I don't think you need to use the App Store app though. I unlinked my computer in OneDrive preferences then deleted the app and then re-installed from the app downloaded via the Microsoft site. The re-synced to a new locations and voila. So relieved! Well done to Kayne for working it out. I found another smart soul on Reddit before I read this, however if it wasn't for that you would have been my saviour Kayne :)

After upgrade to Sonoma, I first noticed a problem with Adobe Lightroom Classic which couldn't read some of my files stored in Onedrive locally. I then realised that I cannot copy or open any Onedrive local files. I have about 1.2tb files stored locally. It will take a long time to redownload everything if I have to move files to a new location. At the moment Onedrive has decided to re-process over 300,000 files at a snails pace...... I would be grateful for any further insights.

I did this and reinstalled a newly download version of OneDrive and though the files sync but the updater client hangs and has to be terminated making it no longer sync until there is a reboot.

similar issue here, I already uninstalled OneDrive, deleted all the files and reinstalled fresh.

OneDrive keeps running on 200%+ CPU, constantly showing in the app "looking for changes", but won't upload all changes.

Tech: MacBook Pro M1 Max getting hot (75°C running on vents @2300)

    Mac OS Sonoma

    OneDrive Version: 23.211.1010.0001

    Looking for any recommendations.

    Thanks

I was having the same problem, and Gunasekar's solution worked. Many thanks.
