One Drive Not Working with Mac OS 14 Sonoma

My OneDrive is not syncing with Mac OS Sonoma.

I am getting the "you must restart OneDrive to continue syncing this location" message.

File access and copying are not working. The Finder hangs on "preparing to copy…" The copy never happens and I have lost access on the Mac to all of my OneDrive files. I can see them. They are one the OneDrive server. But, on the Mac I cannot open the file, download or copy to another location.

As all of my work is in the OneDrive Folder, I am frozen out of all of my files.

Here is what finally worked for me:

    1. Remove the current App and Data from my Mac.
    2. Download the App from the Mac App Store - A new one was released just a week ago. (23.199.0924)
    3. Reinstall and Sync again all data
    4. Restart my Mac

Note: I've tried the solution in the Thread above (going through the built-in Reset Command, but it did not work). I tried the version of OneDrive from the MS website which seemed even newer (23.211.1010) and it didn't sync (always asking me to restart the OneDrive App).

I can confirm that this general approach works. Starting again and using a new location for your OneDrive files seems to do the trick. I don't think you need to use the App Store app though. I unlinked my computer in OneDrive preferences then deleted the app and then re-installed from the app downloaded via the Microsoft site. The re-synced to a new locations and voila. So relieved! Well done to Kayne for working it out. I found another smart soul on Reddit before I read this, however if it wasn't for that you would have been my saviour Kayne :)

These steps successfully resolved my problem with OneDrive 23.189.0910.0001 on macOS Sonoma 14.0.0.

Clearly, OneDrive's configuration did not survive the upgrade from macOS Ventura 13.6 to Sonoma 14.0.0. The steps provided by Gunasekar5034 forced OneDrive to go through its own setup process again and its been working perfectly ever since.

    Thank-you very much!

    Peter
