One Note keeps switching from drawing (Apple Pencil) to Text Mode. I am using the App on an iPad.

I suggest you first turn off both Draw Mode and Text Mode, reset the OneNote app via the steps in Reset Microsoft OneNote between users on a shared iPad or iPhone - Microsoft Support, restart the iPad and then re-open the OneNote app on your iPad, enable Draw Mode to see if the issue goes away in your environment.

Thanks for your suggestion - unfortunately this did not solve my issue.

Do you have any other troubleshooting tips? This is urgent for me as I use OneNote A LOT for uni and it is drastically impacting the time is taking me to complete work.

Just letting you know it is jumping from all tools to the Text Mode (from ‘lasso’ and from ‘add space’). The only way I seem to get around it is by pressing whatever I am trying to do VIA the pencil that is drawing to text. Eg. If i want to use the black pen, it will switch automatically to text mode, but if i press the drawing to text pencil it will eventually stay on black pen, after a few tries (until I switch to another colour, or press lasso or add space - then it will continuously switch back to text mode).

I am facing the same problem, it is an issue due to update version16.72.

For urgent, I found that we can use the drawing pencil temporarily by turning the "Scribble" option off in Apple Pencil Setting, though the keyboard will pop up every time when switching between tools.

Hope they fix this issue soon.

After some tests, I can reproduce the issue now in our environment. AS the issue may be related to the version number of the OneNote app on iPad and may need to involve our related team to be fixed directly, I kindly suggest you use the built-in Feedback option to report the issue to our related team as soon as possible so that they can be aware of the issue for further investigation.
