I have tried all online fixes but nothing is working; inetcpl.cpl, uninstalling & reinstalling, advanced options internet explorer & updating microsoft office. It just started giving me this error a couple of days ago.

I'm having the same problem and reported it to Microsoft via the feedback link you posted. Assuming it is a Microsoft server issue, is there anything I can do to my local machine (that I haven't already tried) or do I just have to wait until Microsoft fixes the faulty server?

(For the record, I went through the repair process, checked my privacy settings, and even emptied out cache, cookies, and temp dir - nothing helped.)

    thanks!

I actually got Microsoft online and remoted into the system. A new user profile had to be created.

I will give that a try - I also have a new update that wants to run so I will do that first. If it still isn't working then I will bug microsoft.

Also, just a point of clarification, one person (I think SantaFe Vet) posted a screen shot of their error message showing that there was some kind of server issue. The message I get just says 'Error' and gives the 'Work offline' option.

I have the same setup. This worked for me, also, after I had to re-activate Office 2016 with my original activation key. Thanks!!

Well, I spent 2 hours on chat with the Microsoft peeps today. They took remote control and after messing about for a bit, decided to do a manual un-install and re-install of Office. Unfortunately, this did not work.

I am scheduled for an escalation callback tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes. I will mention the new user profile possible fix when I talk to them.

FYI - I'm on Windows 10, running Microsoft Office 2016 Pro.

    thanks!

    Ruth
