I have tried all online fixes but nothing is working; inetcpl.cpl, uninstalling & reinstalling, advanced options internet explorer & updating microsoft office. It just started giving me this error a couple of days ago.

If anbody is searching for this error since Office update from november/december 2023.
Microsoft Office is new using the EdgeWebView for inserting icons and online pictures.
If you dont have a folder under the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application , maybe your edge installation is corrupt.
You can download/install/reinstall the EdgeWebView with following link:
    Install the setup as Admin.

    https://developer.microsoft.com/de-de/microsoft-edge/webview2/consumer/?form=MA13LH

A new office installation will not install the EdgeWebView. Normaly a new Edge installation will install also the edgewebview.

    I hope this help somebody

Have you tried deleting cookies? particularly the one mentioned several posts ago by ?Mary? I think. you can delete all your cookies or just the one she talks about.

That said, before the cookie solution was suggested, what worked for me was to create a completely new account on my laptop - a major pain but it solved the problem.

I tried the cookies solution on my old account and that worked as well. So somebody smarter than me can figure out what the true root cause is...

One more thing, someone recently said this is not a Word problem which is probably true since I was getting the same error in ppt. However, it certainly seems likely it is a Microsoft problem, so I hope they will figure it out.

Peace on Earth, Good will to Everybody!

Were you trying to insert a picture into an existing document? I found that the cookie solution doesn’t always work if you do that. It could be that the bad cookie is stored within the document. If that’s what you were doing, try this:

Close all Office apps and follow the steps to delete the cookie as per my previous post. Then open Word and create a new document. Insert an online picture into it. It should succeed. Copy the picture and paste it into your existing document.

If you have a document that triggers this error and you want to insert many pictures into it, then you might want to consider creating a fresh document that doesn’t have the problem and copy/paste all the content across from the other document.

It affects all online pictures (Insert Picture Online) and in all Microsoft apps, Excel, Powerpoint, Word.....

In that case, you are probably seeing the server issue that I mentioned. Be sure to report what you see using the feedback mechanism in Word.
