I have tried all online fixes but nothing is working; inetcpl.cpl, uninstalling & reinstalling, advanced options internet explorer & updating microsoft office. It just started giving me this error a couple of days ago.

still not working for me and I was to have heard back from Microsoft support high end tech to fix this bug.

I tried in Publisher and in Word. NO LUCK. Does anyone know if it works in the 2021 version?

Finally got around to trying this solution this morning. I opened an old document and saw that it was possible to insert a bing online picture. Then opened a new document and found that it works there too now.

    Thanks!

Had the same thing happen to me, in loaded Office 365, but my original

product key from Office 2016 worked to activate it.

Any issues with the insertion of online pictures in any version of Word are with the source of the pictures, NOT with Word, whatever version is being used.

A sure-fire work-around for the issues with the source is to use a screen capture program such as Snagit from www.techsmith.com.  It can be used to capture anything that appears on your screen with the snagit capture able to be inserted into a Word document either by using Copy and Paste, of the capture can be saved in various graphic formats to your computer from where they can be inserted.
