From other comments in this thread it seems like microsoft may be dropping support for Mac versions pre OS-11

Unfortunately, that fix didn't work for me, but what DID work was going to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/onedrive-release-notes-845dcf18-f921-435e-bf28-4e24b95e5fc0 and selecting the version 23.002.0102.0004 under DEFERRED RING. Didn't need to quit the Standalone Updater on Activity Window.

It may not work for everyone, but I figured I would share in case it does.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried opening OneDrive in safe mode too. nothing works. App simply doesn't launch

Glad I found this post, I thought I was going mad. Had a user presenting this issue. OS was running a bit behind so scheduling an update. Crazy that OneDrive can't present a message stating it's not supported or even provide for-warning of such incompatibility.

Wish they'd fix the issue with later versions being unable to open one drive files locally!

Based on feedback from many others and my experience, the key steps to a fix are as follows:

1. Download a previous/older version of OneDrive (e.g. Deferred Ring 23.002 or 23.054)
2. Uninstall/Trash current malfunctioning OneDrive installation
3. Disconnect Internet and install older OneDrive version (e.g. 23.002 or 23.054)
4. Take steps to prevent OneDrive from updating itself after reconnecting the internet either by

• editing the updater startup script to block the OneDrive updater from running, and/or by
• installing a personal firewall app that blocks the OneDrive updater (eg Little Snitch, or LuLu) from connecting online to get an updated version (in case the updater starts up nevertheless)

5. Reconnect internet and start OneDrive

So I finally managed to get OneDrive working on Catalina 10.15.7. I Uninstalled the current version of OneDrive. Opened OneNote then selects "Help > check for updates" and turned off the Automatic Update in preferences. I then installed version 23.002.0102.0004 of OneDrive and bingo... it started and is now happily updating.... Hope this works for you too.
