One Drive Stopped Working since April 7th, 2023 and running with MaC OS catalina 10.15.7

I have a MacBook Pro mid 2012( The best machines as compared with the current ones) running with OS Catalina 10.15.7, but a couple a days ago my OneDrive stopped working or syncing, I've done everything, installing previous version and also following the recommended ones in some post with no success in the installation.

Installing previous versions of one drive the results are the same, further uninstalling Office 365 and nothing. So was necessary to install a previous version of office 2016 to get again office package, the new version does not run with Catalina 10.15.7, so, my unique alternative is to work with the app in website with a link in desktop.

I would recommend to MS to avoid or prevent with visible notice that the one drive with the last update does not run on Catalina 10.15.7 and give the option to users to keep the previous version.

Until now, I have no fixed the problem with One drive. Suggestions are welcome.

Hi everyone,

I think I have found a solution using the third party application Cloud Mounter. This app allows mounting in the desktop as a folder or hard drive several cloud services including Onedrive. Configuring Cloud Mounter to mount Onedrive in mac os catalina is very easy with your microsoft account credentials. You may add Cloud Mounter to your startup items.

I also have the same problem on macOS 10.15.7 (19H2026) that the OneDrive app can't be opened. I have reinstalled both standalone and AppStore versions, but the problem still persists. I'm considering switching to Google One, since Google Drive app works normally on macOS 10.15.7 (19H2026).

I had this exact problem. I fixed it with these steps:

1. This procedure requires Time Machine backups - DO NOT proceed if you don't have backups!
2. In finder, navigate to: <computer>/Macintosh HD/Applications/OneDrive
3. Enter Time Machine
4. Navigate back into very early April or Late March 2023 to find Version 23.054.0313 of OneDrive
5. Use the Restore function to replace the newer (broken) version of OneDrive with the older working version
6. Reboot
7. You may need to relaunch OneDrive manually

I've tried installing this older version from Microsoft's web site, but somehow the Microsoft install always does an auto-update to the latest version which causes it to fail again.

If you don't have Time Machine backups, then I don't have a fix for you but I strongly recommend you start creating them for future problems.

Here is what DID work for us (no problems since doing it)! We have a 2013 iMac running Catalina version 10.15.7

Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/onedrive-release-notes-845dcf18-f921-435e-bf28-4e24b95e5fc0 and select the version 23.002.0102.0004 under DEFERRED RING. We didn't need to quit the Standalone Updater on Activity Window.

But just to be sure, I uninstalled the Microsoft Updater. And since Catalina OS can't be upgraded or used with OneDrive anymore, it was no loss. Uninstalling was easy, here is how: https://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/how-to-stop-microsoft-autoupdate-on-mac/

This may not work for all, but it has been working all day since I did these things.
