Selecting a cell in Excel goes to an incorrect cell

Further testing this side (which Microsoft should be doing):

• When issue manifests on extended monitor, the bug remains in place if the Excel is dragged to a 2nd monitor or the laptop's own monitor.
• After dragging to the laptop's own monitor and disconnecting the USB-C dock, so no monitors are connected, the issue disappears. Issue clearly correlated with use of extended monitor(s).

This is the most ridiculous, disgraceful example of apathetic customer support I've witnessed in my 30 years of using MS products.

The issue should be fixed immediately, and I believe users have a case to take Microsoft to court to reclaim costs for lost productivity, and for the general stress caused and effect on users' personal time.

I am an IT director for the company I work for. The "different environment" you are referring is inconsiquential. I have the same issue being reported on multiple systems, displays, keyboard and mouse combo's and etc. I also see the issue on Mac's, Windows 10 and Windows 11. This problem only happens in Excel for Microsoft 365. I didn't see this on Office 2016 or previous.

To help find the bug faster, This is how I recommend your developers test this,

Switch "Page Layout" mode, add text to the header, and add text to the cells from A1 down to at I94. Next scroll down to the bottom of the document then scroll back up. When the scroll bar reachs the top and you can't see the header text anymore then you know the bug is active.

The issue persists, our I.T. have spent more time trying to resolve it, including adding expanded RAM to the new laptop they also provided me in desperation to resolve this. In another thread, a user described the issue occurring on FIVE separate units.

You have a responsibility to resolve this immediately.

You are costing users thousands of pounds in lost productivity, I.T. time, hardware costs etc. as we try to resolve it.

You are causing us to create corrupted reports for internal and client reports, with all sorts of potential consequences.

The constant lost time at work impacts on personal time; I take this very seriously and I will not tolerate it.

You must update us immediately on where we are with this, or I will start to look into legal processes by which we can claim compensation. I will also start an online campaign to raise awareness if you do not start taking this seriously.

This is one of the most disgraceful situations I can recall from a supplier in my entire career using MS products, spanning over 25 years.

The issue is when selecting a cell via mouse click.

We've tried all the above, eventually we decided to change to a new laptop altogether, and the issue is the same, only somewhat worse (distance between cursor and cell is greater, and it takes more effort to revert the issue in order to continue working).

I'm not sure whether the rebuild on the original laptop would have made any difference, probably not as we tried more than one Office reinstall and more than one build.

How you select or active a cell?

using mouse left click or just keyboard move ?

I have no problem in selecting a cell or range.

Regress Office version.

• Rebuild laptop altogether.
• Change laptop altogether.
• Try Safe Mode.
• Reset scaling to 100% on all monitors in use, and reboot.
• General driver updates.
• Try touchpad instead of mouse, change mouse.

Have you tried format disk c and reinstall whole windows system?

Most of weird behaviors may be solved by reinstall windows system.
