Dear Support Team
As a result of the recent OneDrive update 23061.0319 (installed on my Mac on the 1st of Apr 2023) OneDrive app won't sync or open on my MacBook Pro (Catalina v10.15.7).
Despite following the steps as (as published in Microsoft Support Centre and also Microsoft Community) OneDrive won't open or function at all.
My feeling is that the new update creates an issue with the Catalina Operating system which unable it to open/function/sync..
Therefore, OneDrive is not working appropriately.
In order to resolve the matter I have followed the below steps and no luck:
Would be highly appreciated if you provide some guidance on the matter.

There is DropBox, google drive, and Adobe cloud. All cost $$$$ and all have some type of issue that will make you ask for an alternative.
I would love to get rid of one drive. Is there something else that allows the “files on demand” so I can see what’s available and only pull down what I need. Also needs to be able to select files I want to always have on my local sync folder. Ideas? Thanks!

Microsoft messed up the OneDrive updater and silently dropped support for macOS Catalina users. OneDrive is a terrible piece of software. It is slow, it is poorly designed and optimised, Auto-Updates are unpredictable and bundled with buggy features. How could this release even pass the quality assurance? Users have to find all kinds of workarounds to prevent Auto-Updates. The best thing is to move on and get rid of OneDrive.
Thanks for sharing the method. It works and it does mean the disaster was caused by the recent buggy update of OneDrive.
I have no idea what gave the Microsoft team such confidence to release a buggy update and and to force all users to apply the ****.
Just FYI, instead of repeatedly killing the StandaloneUpdater process or hard-coding the system preferences, you may simply disable app's network connection if you got a personal firewall such as Little Snitch installed. See below the screenshot for your reference.
