OneDrive Will Not Run MacOS Catalina 10.15.7

I have had Office 365, including OneDrive running on this Mac for several years. Yesterday, OneDrive updated itself (I have the Microsoft AutoUpdater set to automatically download and install updates) to version 23.061.0319. Following that update, it will not run.

I click on the icon in the launchpad, nothing happens

I click on the icon within Finder->Applications, nothing happens

I do not get an error message, there is nothing in the system log, it does not show up in application monitor, it seems to be just dead.

Here is what the system says about the OneDrive.app:

OneDrive:

  Version: 23.061.0319

  Obtained from: Identified Developer

  Last Modified: 4/3/23, 3:18 PM

Signed by: Developer ID Application: Microsoft Corporation (UBF8T346G9), Developer ID Certification Authority, Apple Root CA

  Location: /Applications/OneDrive.app

  Kind: 64-bit

If I run Microsoft AutoUpdate, this is what it shows for Microsoft products:

None of the Office products is up to date (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook). They are all on version 16.66 because the next version, 16.71 requires an OS Update, which will never come, because this macbook (Macbook Air, mid 2012) is too old and Catalina 10.15.7 is the most upgraded it can get.

Only OneDrive is up to date, v23061.0319, installed yesterday on 4/3/2023.

What can I do to get back to a previous version of OneDrive so that it works??? This sucks that it did not recognize that the most current version is not compatible with my laptop.

I haven't had any luck: if I reinstall this version of OneDrive, it actually seems to start. Then it updates himself and goes back to dying.

    How to fix?

I have same exact problem. This is a major issue for me, as I use this for work. I revert to older version of Onedrive, but then it automatically updates itself to newer version within hours.

    Here I found something weird

It updates itself right after installing Here is terminal output:

Right after installing recommended version of OneDrive:

    mdls -name kMDItemVersion /Applications/OneDrive.app kMDItemVersion = "21.139.0711"

and right installation and crashing the OneDrive the version says:

    mdls -name kMDItemVersion /Applications/OneDrive.app kMDItemVersion = "23.061.0319"

Is there a way to avoid update OneDrive??

Now my 23.054.0313.0003 has also (AGAIN) vanished from the menu bar, is missing (AGAIN) from the Finder windows sidebars, and the app itself (AGAIN) will not launch. So now neither the old nor the new version of OneDrive will not work.
