OneDrive Will Not Run MacOS Catalina 10.15.7

I have had Office 365, including OneDrive running on this Mac for several years. Yesterday, OneDrive updated itself (I have the Microsoft AutoUpdater set to automatically download and install updates) to version 23.061.0319. Following that update, it will not run.

I click on the icon in the launchpad, nothing happens

I click on the icon within Finder->Applications, nothing happens

I do not get an error message, there is nothing in the system log, it does not show up in application monitor, it seems to be just dead.

Here is what the system says about the OneDrive.app:

OneDrive:

  Version: 23.061.0319

  Obtained from: Identified Developer

  Last Modified: 4/3/23, 3:18 PM

Signed by: Developer ID Application: Microsoft Corporation (UBF8T346G9), Developer ID Certification Authority, Apple Root CA

  Location: /Applications/OneDrive.app

  Kind: 64-bit

If I run Microsoft AutoUpdate, this is what it shows for Microsoft products:

None of the Office products is up to date (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook). They are all on version 16.66 because the next version, 16.71 requires an OS Update, which will never come, because this macbook (Macbook Air, mid 2012) is too old and Catalina 10.15.7 is the most upgraded it can get.

Only OneDrive is up to date, v23061.0319, installed yesterday on 4/3/2023.

What can I do to get back to a previous version of OneDrive so that it works??? This sucks that it did not recognize that the most current version is not compatible with my laptop.

This is true. It auto updated this morning. I deleted and reinstalled then turned Lulu on which still had all my blocks/allows from last time.

In may or jun this year Microsoft fixed the problem after 2 month of silence. But now again, the new version of OneDrive installs automatically and AFTER installation it tells that this version does not work on Catalina. Why does it installs itself before checking the MacOS-version?

Did they learn nothing by Microsoft about updating the software?

Installing the old version is only temporary, because the new non-working version installs itself automatically.

The previous time I could only stop installing OneDrive by installing a special firewall that stops automatically installing software. Unfortunately I forgot the name of that product.

    Maybe somebody remembers

It will update at some point and break unless you figure out a way to block it.

This solution worked for me. Uninstall previous version and install this one.
    Let's sync and it's up-to-date.

    I downloaded with Firefox.

    Thnx @TRivMoo!
