OneDrive Will Not Run MacOS Catalina 10.15.7

I have had Office 365, including OneDrive running on this Mac for several years. Yesterday, OneDrive updated itself (I have the Microsoft AutoUpdater set to automatically download and install updates) to version 23.061.0319. Following that update, it will not run.

I click on the icon in the launchpad, nothing happens

I click on the icon within Finder->Applications, nothing happens

I do not get an error message, there is nothing in the system log, it does not show up in application monitor, it seems to be just dead.

Here is what the system says about the OneDrive.app:

OneDrive:

  Version: 23.061.0319

  Obtained from: Identified Developer

  Last Modified: 4/3/23, 3:18 PM

Signed by: Developer ID Application: Microsoft Corporation (UBF8T346G9), Developer ID Certification Authority, Apple Root CA

  Location: /Applications/OneDrive.app

  Kind: 64-bit

If I run Microsoft AutoUpdate, this is what it shows for Microsoft products:

None of the Office products is up to date (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook). They are all on version 16.66 because the next version, 16.71 requires an OS Update, which will never come, because this macbook (Macbook Air, mid 2012) is too old and Catalina 10.15.7 is the most upgraded it can get.

Only OneDrive is up to date, v23061.0319, installed yesterday on 4/3/2023.

What can I do to get back to a previous version of OneDrive so that it works??? This sucks that it did not recognize that the most current version is not compatible with my laptop.

    Hello everyone,

I think I found the solution.

I reinstalled an old version of OneDrive but each time it updated automatically.

It is necessary to uninstall Microsoft AutoUpdate which is no longer useless because on Catalina version 10.15.7, it is no longer scalable.

To do this, go to the Finder > while holding the Alt key, click on the Go tab > Library > Application Support > Microsoft > (or press Command+Shift+G) and enter the following path: /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/ Locate the folder named something like "MAU" or "MAU2.0" and open that directory Locate and drag "Microsoft AutoUpdate.app" to the Trash

    Empty the trash

Reinstall OneDrive by selecting it from the latest version of Office compatible with Catalina which is dated October 11, 2022Microsoft_Office_16.66.22100900_BusinessPro_Installer

I hope this solution will help you Good day

I have the exact same problem as my work also depends on OneDrive. But I can tell you I will move away from this **** product now and also move away from any MS products.

As Mac users, we should never use any Microsoft products, and we should do anything in our power to tell all our friends never to use Microsoft because it is the worst product in the world, made by the worst amateurs in the world.

As always, Microsoft is the worst company and has worst product in the world.

Totally ridiculous that they make updates so people using MAC OS 10.15.7 cannot use one drive onedrive.

I have always hated Microsoft more than my worst enemy, and I think now it's time to move away from onedrive and office365.

My life will be 1000 times better without Microsoft, and I really hope that this company goes bankrupt one day because they are the worst in the world.

    Hi all

I have the same issue as above for Catalina 10.15.6

One drive 23.054.0313 version works briefly after re-installing but it seems to update to a new version in a day or two, leading to the same issue. Does anyone know if the same issue comes up for Big Sur, Ventura etc?

This is horrible! My work depends on One Drive!

    Thank you!!
