OneDrive Will Not Run MacOS Catalina 10.15.7

I have had Office 365, including OneDrive running on this Mac for several years. Yesterday, OneDrive updated itself (I have the Microsoft AutoUpdater set to automatically download and install updates) to version 23.061.0319. Following that update, it will not run.

I click on the icon in the launchpad, nothing happens

I click on the icon within Finder->Applications, nothing happens

I do not get an error message, there is nothing in the system log, it does not show up in application monitor, it seems to be just dead.

Here is what the system says about the OneDrive.app:

OneDrive:

  Version: 23.061.0319

  Obtained from: Identified Developer

  Last Modified: 4/3/23, 3:18 PM

  Signed by: Developer ID Application: Microsoft Corporation (UBF8T346G9), Developer ID Certification Authority, Apple Root CA

  Location: /Applications/OneDrive.app

  Kind: 64-bit

If I run Microsoft AutoUpdate, this is what it shows for Microsoft products:

None of the Office products is up to date (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook). They are all on version 16.66 because the next version, 16.71 requires an OS Update, which will never come, because this macbook (Macbook Air, mid 2012) is too old and Catalina 10.15.7 is the most upgraded it can get.

Only OneDrive is up to date, v23061.0319, installed yesterday on 4/3/2023.

What can I do to get back to a previous version of OneDrive so that it works??? This sucks that it did not recognize that the most current version is not compatible with my laptop.

    It seems I'm either missing something to block or the updater sneaks in an update right before Lulu launches on login because I've had to reinstall Onedrive 3 days straight. Is anyone having any luck with their firewall actually blocking the update?

    It's frustrating because 1. it's dumb 2. it takes like 1.5 hrs to synch every time. I can't do my job while this happens .

    Or better yet, any alternatives that I can recommend to my boss that work similar to the Onedrive app (we already tried dropbox)?

    i have installed version 23.081.0416 / and i disabled the onedrive updater , by modifying the 'onedrive updater.app' to be no more an executable , i must look again for the complete procedure to do this, i forgot the details

    i did following commands ::

    ===================

    sudo chmod -x /volumes/osx-laufwerk/applications/onedrive.app/contents/standaloneupdaterdaemon.xpc/contents/macos/standaloneupdaterdaemon

    AND:

    sudo chmod -x /volumes/osx-laufwerk/applications/onedrive.app/contents/onedriveupdaterdaemon.xpc/contents/macos/onedriveupdaterdaemon

    the system does not allow to install this version...

    I experienced whatever I installed the latest working version of OneDrive, MS installed automatically re-installed the latest published version, which does not work on Catalina. Maybe that is way you cannot mee the installation of the old version. Just Install LuLu and configure it so that MS cannot update OneDrive. Maybe a restart is necessary. Then Install the latest working version of OneDrive. I forgot which version it was finally. Because after 2 month there was finally a working version newer than 23.054...... (forgot version number).

    Succes.
