OneDrive Will Not Run MacOS Catalina 10.15.7

I have had Office 365, including OneDrive running on this Mac for several years. Yesterday, OneDrive updated itself (I have the Microsoft AutoUpdater set to automatically download and install updates) to version 23.061.0319. Following that update, it will not run.

I click on the icon in the launchpad, nothing happens

I click on the icon within Finder->Applications, nothing happens

I do not get an error message, there is nothing in the system log, it does not show up in application monitor, it seems to be just dead.

Here is what the system says about the OneDrive.app:

OneDrive:

  Version: 23.061.0319

  Obtained from: Identified Developer

  Last Modified: 4/3/23, 3:18 PM

Signed by: Developer ID Application: Microsoft Corporation (UBF8T346G9), Developer ID Certification Authority, Apple Root CA

  Location: /Applications/OneDrive.app

  Kind: 64-bit

If I run Microsoft AutoUpdate, this is what it shows for Microsoft products:

None of the Office products is up to date (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook). They are all on version 16.66 because the next version, 16.71 requires an OS Update, which will never come, because this macbook (Macbook Air, mid 2012) is too old and Catalina 10.15.7 is the most upgraded it can get.

Only OneDrive is up to date, v23061.0319, installed yesterday on 4/3/2023.

What can I do to get back to a previous version of OneDrive so that it works??? This sucks that it did not recognize that the most current version is not compatible with my laptop.

Okay...why now?? Why not Summer, when schools can plan for this change/block?

Also, their specs state 10.14.x and older don't work, and 11.x and above does. Umm...10.15.x is not listed either way.

Using a firewall also seems to be working for me (went with Lulu).

In addition to the above blocks I also added:

    • com.microsoft.OneDriveUpdater in Library/Caches
    • updater plist in Library/LaunchAgents, Library/LaunchDaemons & Library/Preferences

    Launched OneDrive.

Then I watched out for any connection going to either g.live.com, oneclient.sfx.ms. (I only had to block the g.live.com so far)

I did think I broke it for awhile because it just said "loading updates" for about an hour without showing those updates like it usually does but it eventually finished and seems to be working fine.

    Hi all,

when I apply these action 0.0.0.0 oneclient.sfx.ms , I can't do the onedrive download version anymore. it gives me the message:

    This site can’t be reached

    oneclient.sfx.ms refused to connect.

    Try:

    • Checking the connection
    • Checking the proxy and the firewall ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

is this to be expected? is there something I can revert this action, do first the download and apply this action again?

    1. Just comment out temporary the host by adding # before 0.0.0.0 then save.

    #0.0.0.0 oneclient.sfx.ms

    1. Download the installer.
    2. Remove the # and save.

    0.0.0.0 oneclient.sfx.ms

    1. Install OneDrive
