I keep getting an error message whenever I use onenote that says "your system has run out of application memory". It pops up after a couple minutes and has been going on for about a week now. Prior to this it had never happened. this is extremely frustrating because i need to use onenote for medical school. has anybody else had this issue and how do i fix it? i dont know if it has something to do with the new apple update? Plzzzzz help!!

It's hard to give you an exact date because of the staggered way in which we rollout Office Updates, but I can tell you that an improvement had been checked in.. and its a matter of releasing the update that should reach customer before end of year.

We would like to help you narrow down this issue:
1.Please check the memory usage of your Mac: View memory usage in Activity Monitor on Mac - Apple Support

2.Open your notebooks once a time to see if the memory usage are full at once or increase with the number of the opened notebooks.
If your storage are full at once even only one notebook is opened ,this issue could be caused by the OneNote applications itself, if the memory usage increase normally when you open the notebooks one by one, we thinks the pictures or maybe files inserted in your notebooks caused the error.

This did not help. I need to have multiple notebooks open and have had no issues having multiple notebooks open up until now. Why is this now an issue? this is so frustrating. I have told everyone not to use onenote because there are too many issues. I have too many notes in onenote to switch so i need to figure out how to fix this issue ASAP

Based on the error message you provided, we understand OneNote for Mac takes up much memory on your device. May I know if you are opening several notebooks with pictures/sheets/inserted files at the same time? Since the local cache contains complete copies of all opennotebooks, close the notebooks you don't need may help you with this issue.
You could also remove OneNote cash manually.
a. Sign out and close all office apps.
b. Go to Finder, find ~/Library/Containers/ (press command + shift + G and enter this path)
c. Find “com.microsoft.onenote.mac” folder, select and move it to trash
d. Restart Mac and sign in
*Note: Please make sure all the notes are synced successfully to the cloud, or you can backup manually your contents before doing this step.
