I keep getting an error message whenever I use onenote that says "your system has run out of application memory". It pops up after a couple minutes and has been going on for about a week now. Prior to this it had never happened. this is extremely frustrating because i need to use onenote for medical school. has anybody else had this issue and how do i fix it? i dont know if it has something to do with the new apple update? Plzzzzz help!!

It's hard to give you an exact date because of the staggered way in which we rollout Office Updates, but I can tell you that an improvement had been checked in.. and its a matter of releasing the update that should reach customer before end of year.
This exact issue is happening to me as well. I’m a veterinary student and onenote has two years of my work on it, and this problem started in august 2023, around the same time as these other replies. It started after creating a new notebook for this school year. I deleted the cache a couple weeks ago and it was working well, but now it’s back to the “run out of application memory” pop up and I have to force quit every few hours. I’m very frustrated. Nothing seems to be working.
I just switched to using CollaNote - its free and pretty easy to use. Also syncs within seconds from Mac to iPad. None of the above fixes worked for me, so looks like this is my way forward now.
Same problem. I’ve closed all but essential notebooks. Before it was maximally 25 GB application memory used, which made my 2017 macbook air very slow. Now it pulls 53 GB just trying to sync. This must be a problem that has occured in the last few months. Since all my notes are on onenote it’s debilitating not being able to use it anymore. Just inserting slides took me 2 hours the other day. Earlier it took only 3 min max.
Also having the same problem, also a medical student. 😅 Must be something about the med student life... It's been driving me crazy for a couple weeks now. Tried the recommended fix and it did not help. I deleted OneNote from my computer and am only accessing it through the browser now. It's a lot slower, but at least I am able to upload and sync slide decks.
