Text disappearing and reappearing while typing MS word

If anyone is still struggling with this, I experienced the same thing with a new desktop purchased at the end of 2022 that has fairly similar specs to Orange Fox above - Dell XPS, Nvidia GPU (RTX 3070), Windows 11, Office365, i7 processor. I tried everything previously suggested in this thread and none of it worked.

The issues I experienced were identical to the original comment here:

• Display glitches involving text that only occur when typing within Office applications (Word, Outlook and Excel).
• Random letters or sections of text disappearing while typing and suddenly reappearing if I hit any key.
• Text randomly appearing for a second in the wrong place in a document only to disappear again if I hit any key.

Eventually, I found something that did work. I had my monitor connected using a DisplayPort cable and I swapped this for an HDMI cable instead. The problem immediately went away and hasn't returned. I would imagine it is not going to be a problem that only affects DisplayPort inputs, but the fact the problem resolved itself when I changed the input (as it did for a previous user here) shows there must be some incompatibility linked to the GPU/display and it has nothing to do with hardware acceleration or any of the other usual suspects people have focused on.

I expect eventually someone will take this seriously enough to fix the incompatibility but rather than grow old waiting for that to happen, I'd try the DisplayPort/HDMI switch and see if it's the same issue I had.

Using HDMI here and still have this issue. It's quite random so perhaps you'd need to test it some more? I noticed it often occurs when typing new words in between already existing lines of large texts.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting the problem is only linked to DisplayPort inputs and that it won't happen with an HDMI input. I'm saying that the fact it resolved by changing the input suggests there's some incompatibility related to the display. An earlier comment (IsraeL) noted the same thing - they changed the display input (they had two DisplayPorts on their machine) and it disappeared.

I don't know what the problem is specifically but these two cases indicate at least *where* it is. I Googled this issue for weeks and almost every response I found was focused on changing hardware acceleration settings, updating drivers, or doing reinstalls. Nobody mentioned changing the display input until I saw IsraeL's comment on here. I tried doing the same thing and it immediately fixed it for me.

Since I did this, the problem has completely been resolved for me. I use Office all day for work and this bug was happening 50+ times a day. I haven't had it happen once since I switched to using the HDMI input and when I go back to the DisplayPort it comes back. In reality there are probably multiple different causes for the issue and people are describing different problems, but this worked for me and the earlier commenter so other people might like to give it a try.

Same here. Brand new machine i5-12400F AMD RX 6500 XT driving an Acer 27" 1920x1080 over HMDI and Samsung 34" 3440x1440 over DP (21:9, but actually 43:18. like 21.5:9 lol)

Happens in new and existing files, light and dark mode, custom page/text colors and without. Latest Drivers (the machine is *two weeks old* in terms of when it was built.

Going to drop 120hz+165hz to 60hz on both screens...

     edit: still happens. not even big text - trying to write a little story and It's only two paragraphs so far with errors because I'm a touch-typist and keep correcting when there's not errors to correct putting the errors into it because it decides 'oh I will show those repereperepeted letters because aduring typing iit just loooks like reee reeepe  etc
