Text disappearing and reappearing while typing MS word

Hey All,

Running windows 11. ASUS m16.

Today a very weird quirk in word cropped up. As I'm typing, words that I've just typed will have random letters disappear and then reappear. When I delete something, sometimes the thing I just deleted will reappear on the document only to disappear when I'm typing elsewhere. No lag or anything happening, just randomly disappearing characters and reluctantly deleted words. Any idea if this is an issue related to a recent patch?

Cheers,

Nate

Enabling typing suggestions as suggested by MH524 on 23rd Feb 2023 seems to reduce, but not fully fix the issue for me. However, the suggestion popups are VERY distracting! Perhaps the suggestions popup causes a refresh of the image which clears the missing characters.

HOWEVER, I THINK I FOUND A FIX, based on this idea of "refreshing".

I found an article on techpowerup entitled "Graphical glitch in Word and Outlook (Office 365)".

I don't have GeForce Experience installed, but I do have Nvidia control panel, so I did the following things (I'm not sure that all of them are needed), but this is now fixed and working for me:

  1. In Nvidia control panel, I added Word and Outlook as separate programs to my "Manage 3D settings" under the "Program Settings" tab and for both I set the following:
  2. "Low latency mode" = Ultra.
  3. "power management mode = Nvidia recommended
  4. "preferred refresh rate = highest available.
  5. "vertical sync" = on

I restarted Word and Outlook and the disappearing characters are gone!

How did you roll back to previous version?

I have the same problem and is quite difficult to work!

I disabled my internet connection, did a Shift-Restart in order to enter Safe Mode, then ran Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall my current GPU drivers. I then rebooted and installed driver 22.5.1 from scratch.

The latest version of DDU can be found here...

I'm back on AMD drive 22.5.1. Has anyone tried the newest AMD driver - 23.4.3? AMD has yet to acknowledge this issue...

The weird thing I got Microsoft support to check it but I couldn't recreate the issue. The next day the problem came back with Outlook where text is disappearing or being displaced, once pressing Entrer, the text starts to look normal.

Games, web browsers, photo and video editing software don't have those issues.
