Same issue in our office. All users with O365. It started over this past weekend (07/09/2022). Only Excel files when doing a Save As, Browse. Some users experience it with File Open.
All other applications work without issue. Nothing in event viewer shows any problems.

I plan to sit down and version test my way back up the release chain, but I can say that 16227.20212 seems to be working without issue. 16327.20248 had it, and even rolling back to 16327.20214 still had it. Those are all builds of 2304, so maybe something changed between 2303 and 2304.

I still have Version 2303 (build 16227,29318) / 16.0.16227.20202 and the problem does not occur (since a previous version that I don't remember by heart).
Will watch what happens with Version 2304!
I wasn't having this issue anymore until I installed 2304 (16327.20248). After that install, I was getting it regularly. That said, I am trying to figure out if it was related to turning the Outlook preview on and then off again. I noticed that it started about a day or two after I disabled the Outlook Preview (it was lacking a lot of features I needed).
anyone else still having this issue? it's affecting most of the users across our organization. disabling webDAV seems to do the trick but unfortunately i'm not seeing an option to push it out via GPO.

Yep I have been an Open Office and Thunderbird user for a number of years at home.
In the past I have seen schools who totally maximised their IT budgets and bought new hardware with what they saved on licences by going over to Linux and Open Office.
Yep running Linux Servers and Workstations has their own quirks. I am running a few as Veeam Proxies at the moment.
MS is forcing most of us into a learning curve for Command Line Power Shell to do anything serious in Office 365 Online anyway so there is even less reason not to bite the bullet and take on the learning curve of Linux and Open Office.
Even if you go Open Office under Windows its is worth the saving.
Just don't expect to do anything with Access.
It has a DB App but it is Java based SQL.
Trouble is that the users who like many of us grew up using Word, Excel etc. the learning curve is also steep for the end user.
Still as MS keeps changing the UI on everything regularly even staying with MS is a learning curve :(
