Split from this thread.

Same issue in our office. All users with O365. It started over this past weekend (07/09/2022). Only Excel files when doing a Save As, Browse. Some users experience it with File Open.

All other applications work without issue. Nothing in event viewer shows any problems.

I tried to change it but says Up2date and doesn't change I think because our devices is intune deployed and locked down. very strange. anyways our main IT guys probably wouldn't switch to monthly from semi-annual for many reasons, I tried changing it in the registry too, i think maybe the only way i can do it is to use office.config.com and ODT but tbh this isn't going to work on a user case basis and I'd get into trouble for adjusting the method of update. anyway thx for the advice for sure it has to be a o365 bug in our version. what i might do is harass NEtapp and tell them it's a conspiracy to move to sharepoint hehe

Cool I will try this we deploy our builds through intune now so o365 is installed as a required app during the enrollment process, I am not sure if our policy will allow us to switch to thiseven for singe machines but I will try for sure.

Setting your clients to Monthly Enterprise (which is still on 2303) resolves the issue for now - until Microsoft decides Monthly Enterprise should go to a version that has the issue.

You can update an individual client with these commands in a Command Prompt window opened as an administrator if you are not forcing the channel via another method:

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /changesetting Channel=MonthlyEnterprise

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /update user

not good enough in a corp environment thats heavily regulated , u r not suppose to save locally because you could lose the data through ssd failure, the network drives backup files incrementally so you can do restores and it may be deemed as a risk too
