How to turn off the reviewing, editing, and view feature?

Since the reviewing, editing, and viewing feature I cannot copy and paste from a read only document. I have to gain access to even copy and paste. My job requires me to copy and paste from upwards of 10 documents. Since word won't let me copy and paste from a read-only or viewing document I have to check them out of our SVN every time. Does anyone know how to turn this feature off and go back to the original word?

Hi. I found this thread after having a similar issue with our church office computers. Ironically, we are using a site license for 2 computers. My office manager's computer will not let her edit anything. Mine works fine, allowing me to download and edit the same document. We have the same updates. I truly do not know why the discrepancy.

I am having the same issue, but I work for a huge Tech Company with 22,000 employees. I can't just update what version I am using. I am following this thread for insights and hopefully someone will post they heard back from Microsoft with more detail.

(thank you to whoever posted the info to log a ticket with them)

Checking to see if you have found anything. We have 100's of users and have found that only 2 sites are having the issue. I haven't found a fix to date.

No fix yet- I'm just dealing with it. It's frustrating to have to add a 'click' to my process, but I can still use the program, so that's something. It adds a little bit of time to each document I open. One new 'click' on each document adds up when I deal with hundreds of them. (I had over 500 last month alone). so you can see my frustration :)

The "Fix" I found was to change our update channel from Current to Semi-Annual which hasn't been affected yet.
