How to turn off the reviewing, editing, and view feature?

Since the reviewing, editing, and viewing feature I cannot copy and paste from a read only document. I have to gain access to even copy and paste. My job requires me to copy and paste from upwards of 10 documents. Since word won't let me copy and paste from a read-only or viewing document I have to check them out of our SVN every time. Does anyone know how to turn this feature off and go back to the original word?

Not sure if it will be any help at all but we do have a meeting with our account advisor this week. I doubt anything will come of it but we are still actively trying to make sure Microsoft knows this is still causing issues.

this issue has been around since the update and still, MS is not able to address this. more Office users are annoyed by this pop up message and the feature itself.

hope this would have a fix soonest.

We opened a ticket with Microsoft as well and they closed it out pretty quickly with the same update that they aren't going to do anything about the feature and its here to stay. The only response they gave me was to "submit feedback" in the 365 admin portal. It's pretty clear this feature is causing multiple problems for different companies. I agree they should push out an update to fix this.

Thank you. So far if we save in a new folder, we are able to use the form. We shall see how long this will work. We are working on something different this morning. I will let you know how it goes.

I'm at a law firm, Help Desk. Our workaround is, save the document and the new file works. Workaround #2, Open the file, Press File, Share, send as a word attachment. (don't need to send the email) just open attachment at that point, that works.

The other fix was to change our Firm's licensing method, that was not an option for us - nor should anybody have to.

A MS update caused this issue and it's too bad they can't push out an update to fix it. These files are simply set to Read Only, no other protection and always been able to type into a read only, what a set back.
