My Cursor Keeps Turning White in Microsoft Word Without Typing

Perhaps the cursor disappearing while typing in word is a slightly different issue to the cursor (or just its outline) turning white? I notice both, but I feel no cursor while typing in Word might be by design?

I see the white cursor outline in Edge pretty frequently. Seems to be only for the text select, and grab cursors. Like everyone else I have an AMD CPU+GPU, but what seems different in my case is I'm on Windows 10. Perhaps this makes sense though, as I only notice the white outline in Edge and not elsewhere in windows.

They can do this through Feedback Hub (Win + F). They mentioned there were some bugs they were investigating, but one doesn’t look to impact some of the Windows builds shared by users in the thread, and the other looks to only impact Edge.

Sorry, one more bit of information. They just informed me that a user needs to file the feedback under Input & Language > Mouse, as that will allow for the recording of a specific trace file.

So the bottom line is that feedback should be submitted through the Feedback Hub, filed under Input & Language | Mouse, with repro steps and video if possible. Windows and Word versions, of course, will be useful, along with any hardware specifics you think might be relevant.

My Feedback Hub just spins the loading wheel, so I can't even try this if I wanted to. It's great that they are looking into this, but it looks like I won't be able to give feedback on this. Hopefully everyone else in this thread report it. I am still having issues even after trying every single solution mentioned here. While what you mentioned is not a solution, it is definitely a step in the right direction for those who are able to report it, and I hope they do.

In the meantime, I will continue waiting for a full solution.

I've read trough the topic.

So far I can see two problems that people have and that is confusing in solving the real problem of the topic-starter.

First problem is the cursor disappearing while starting to type. Solution to that is simple; unchecking the check box "Hide pointer while typing" in the Mouse Properties > Pointer options.

Second problem in this topic, and the one I also have problems with, is that the pointer isn't even appearing in some applications because the mouse is completely white with no shadow. This mostly noticeable in Office products. I see the problem happening in my local office and when I'm remoted in to work, which runs a different office. The mouse pointer is rendered locally. It appears, as mentioned, an AMD driver problem. This doesn't matter if it is a integrated or dedicated GPU.

Rolling back the video driver far enough back should theoretically help. The oldest downloadable driver on AMD website for Win11 is Adrenalin 22.4.1 Optional. If someone could test this, or even with an older driver found online (careful of your source!). I won't test it because this is my gaming machine, working once a week on it and my work doesn't involve a lot of typing. I need the latest driver for my game (Thanks Activision!).

Meanwhile I've found something stupid: If I keep the Mouse Properties open in the background the cursor is "more" visible in Office. It will sometimes fail and appear white but sometimes the cursor is drawn correctly in black. Second is when dual screen remote to work, the problem only occurs on one screen.

I'll take it for now.
