My Cursor Keeps Turning White in Microsoft Word Without Typing

My cursor keeps turning white in Microsoft Word 2016 (I bought lifetime access), even without typing. I already tried changing the cursor settings so that it wouldn't disappear when typing, but that didn't do anything. After a few seconds the text selection cursor will turn white, and, if I hover over dark text, I can see the cursor outline. This has been happening in multiple documents, so not an isolated incident.

This started after a Microsoft update which forced me to log back into my Microsoft account to use Word about a week or two ago. I've tried everything I can find on the internet, but no luck yet. It's very hard to get work done if I can't see my cursor in Word, so what do I need to do to fix this issue so I can get back to work?

    But isn't turning off HW acceleration bad for video playback or online games?

    You don't want to do that.

    I have open a new issue at this community in the following URL.

    I have a valid but incomplete solution which is turning off the hardware acceleration of Edge and Chrome.

    I guess the problem is not only affecting the text cursor...

    In Microsoft Edge I had a map and when I hovered over it the cursor changed to the open hand where I could drag the map around.

    And there the hand was completely white, without the black boarder.

    So I think there is no problem with the color of the cursor, but the bug is, that sometimes the black border of the cursor is displayed white (or just not showing?).

    And with the text cursor (which is more or less just a border) the bug is more obvious.

    @Microsoft: PLS FIX THAT SH*T

    EDIT: In Microsoft Edge it is more or less reproducable by having multible tabs open and then changing the tab (by clicking on it) an then dragging the mouse to the adress bar. Sadly it is not really deterministic from what I can see
