My Cursor Keeps Turning White in Microsoft Word Without Typing

My cursor keeps turning white in Microsoft Word 2016 (I bought lifetime access), even without typing. I already tried changing the cursor settings so that it wouldn't disappear when typing, but that didn't do anything. After a few seconds the text selection cursor will turn white, and, if I hover over dark text, I can see the cursor outline. This has been happening in multiple documents, so not an isolated incident.

This started after a Microsoft update which forced me to log back into my Microsoft account to use Word about a week or two ago. I've tried everything I can find on the internet, but no luck yet. It's very hard to get work done if I can't see my cursor in Word, so what do I need to do to fix this issue so I can get back to work?

    For me it really helped with cursor visibility. Had no issue since. But what I now encountered was, that when I type text - sometimes - a character is now showing after a press of a key. Instead it appears with the next character I press. Same thing when deleting a character. Sometimes I have to type another letter that the old one disappears and the new one shows up.

    Strange windows this is ^^
    But I guess at the moment it is better so than having a disappearing cursor...

    So that introduced new problems. I don't want to sacrifice the visibility of letters as I type in order to see the cursor after I type. Doesn't look like a full solution if it makes more problems.

    You may try retore the registration with the REG file https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5157 。

    Try the following 2 methods.

    1. Use a new cursor style, such as beam-rm
    2. Disable hardware acceleration in word.

    That seems like it is for entire windows flickering. It really helped with cursor visibility?

    It really works for me, the codes of their REG files is the same as mine.
