Win 10 version 21H2 Build 19044.1706

Excel 2016 Version 2204 Build 15128.20224

This problem occurs randomly and with only a few cells being copied. The spreadsheet locks up and the only way out is Save>Close and open the book again. Sometimes that doesn't work and I have to close Excel completely.

Sometimes the top ribbon completely greys out and I can't do anything.

This is becoming a significant problem.

    Hi there,

It should work for users who produce some spreadsheets programmatically with PowerShell in a scheduled task. It's not my case and, I guess, many other users. Be that as it may, many thanks for your contribution.

By now, updating to the 2007 version is the best deal we've got.

This problem has generated some potential solutions, which I would regard as work-arounds, but no definitive solution from Microsoft.

The solutions also differ in the configurations and/or versions of Excel. I do not run Win 11 nor do I use Office 365. I do not use PowerShell. I have basic Excel Pro 2016.

The fact that so many contributors have the same problem across different configurations indicates to me that the problem is endemic. Therefore there should be a single generic solution from Microsoft.

Well, some are basic, and others are much more elaborated spreadsheets (macros) just depending on the project in which I'm involved. By now, and after updating the software to the 2007 version, it seems to be working well. Let's see what happens.
