We could not copy the content to the Clipboard, it is in use by another application. You can still paste your content within this workbook but it will not be available in other applications.

Win 10 version 21H2 Build 19044.1706

Excel 2016 Version 2204 Build 15128.20224

This problem occurs randomly and with only a few cells being copied. The spreadsheet locks up and the only way out is Save>Close and open the book again. Sometimes that doesn't work and I have to close Excel completely.

Sometimes the top ribbon completely greys out and I can't do anything.

This is becoming a significant problem.

No solution here. I re- did the the mail contacts. looking into reg. for protocol TS 2.0 checked.

    Reloaded MSA 365 Outlook.

Clean new sandbox with different behavior.

Starting on path from close to the beginning.

Not a proud moment for me.

    This now closed.

    Hi,

A solution that works is adding the directory as suggested earlier by advance1sh. That works for now, and I will see if this issue returns.

I run MS Office 365 on Windows 11 PC. For me, this goes beyond Excel.

My clipboard seems busy somewhere else - Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V stops working on all other apps, and when I try copy paste in Excel, the message reported by OP shows up.

Probably this is not an MS Excel issue and it is the Clipboard itself is getting blocked/caught up with something.

I noticed that the issue starts when I am copying something from Chrome to Excel/Outlook/VSCode, as these are the applications I normally use. I haven't tried reproducing the behavior on other applications. It is also not persistent - sometimes Ctrl+V stops the first time I try a copy/paste from Chrome and sometimes on the fifth.

    Thanks.

It may well be a Clipboard problem, although it seems to predominantly manifest itself in Excel. However, in the final analysis it is a Microsoft problem and should be resolved by them, not through work-arounds etc.

My thought exactly... work-arounds only indicates a problem or a flaw in a process, or in this case, the applications. The fact that many of us are experiencing this should motivate Microsoft coders to fix the problem before it all goes haywire.

@Vimzie ~ sure it could be a Clipboard problem, which would make it a system problem, but I am only experiencing this with Excel which leans toward a higher probability its Excel.

I have renounced to buying the desktop version, since my experience with Microsoft 365 is not what I was led to believe... the integration of OneDrive with backups and autobackups connectivity slows down my sessions or causes hiccups at time, its like solely an online working experience. Sometimes, Excel just crashes in the middle of my work . . . this is unlike the desktop Excel versions I have ever experienced. I used the 2010 version for a long time and it never faltered. I only switch because of Excel newer features and also thought the subscription to be a better bargain.

The minute I get the cash to buy the desktop version, I am switching. As far as I am concern, Microsoft Office 365 is still not ready for prime time.

    Control Panel> Mail

changed/remade contents of all 3 buttons.

    I found success with

    Task Manager

    select Task Manager

    Delete Task Manager

    Select Reboot

    Turn off Fast Boot

    Accounts

turn off copy previous settings on restart

    Restart

    Success

Used suggestion on turning off Fast Boot

along with turning off copy of previous settings on restart.

(In prior aid from others, a Process gets started under Task Master

gets interrupted and leaves process hanging)

    Good Luck
