We could not copy the content to the Clipboard, it is in use by another application. You can still paste your content within this workbook but it will not be available in other applications.

Win 10 version 21H2 Build 19044.1706

Excel 2016 Version 2204 Build 15128.20224

This problem occurs randomly and with only a few cells being copied. The spreadsheet locks up and the only way out is Save>Close and open the book again. Sometimes that doesn't work and I have to close Excel completely.

Sometimes the top ribbon completely greys out and I can't do anything.

This is becoming a significant problem.

Mayby but it definitely says "We could not copy the content to the Clipboard, it is in use by another application". Like I said, every 2 morning. I never shut my computer off either. Just annoying for a new computer.

seems like a different issue. this is a very specific issue where when copying and pasting values, the error occurs, and then selected cells will not be highlighted.

Yeah it sucks. But in my case it happens every other morning when I start using the computer. Plus the restart and all others on that drop down are grayed out so I have to press the button to shutdown then startup again. Bought this dell desktop and office 365 for Christmas 2 months ago. Fustrating, but at least it only happens every other morning.

been having this issue for over a year now, probably much longer. annoying as all get out.

I did open a case with microsoft. only suggestion was a reinstall, which was a disaster, lost tons of settings, etc. Never again.

I google it every now and then to see if i can find a fix. nothing yet I see.

Thank you for confirming that this is a real problem in Excel, and possibly in Office and Windows, and not my imagination.

I frequently run data processing jobs in R that take several days to complete, so rebooting is not an option.

I fortunately have access to an M1 Mac, which, I have discovered, can complete the R analysis 10x faster than the Intel desktop. So some clouds have a silver lining...
