Hello All,

you might know that " Microsoft has blocked Macros from running through internet" do we have any permanent solution on this?

I have tried the below solution which doesn't work.

  1. Save the file to a local hard drive, network share, or cloud share like OneDrive.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer and go to the folder where you saved the file.
  3. Right-click the file and choose Properties from the context menu.
  4. At the bottom of the General tab, you should see a section for Security. Select the Unblock checkbox and select OK.

Also, tried to enable Macros through Macros settings through Trust center but didn't work?

is there any permanent solution on this?

Hi,

I think I found a solution to my problem.

The solution is to re-map the network drive to the fileserver name first and then adding that mapped directory to the trusted locations in excel.

Mapped Location:

\fileserver\networkdirectory and not \[192.xxx.xxx.xxx]\networkdirectory

Hope it helps someone out there.

    Yes and No..We remapped the network drive which works if I'm in our office on the local network, but will not work remote with VPN ...

    Just a thought, but there is a known bug in the June 2022 Patch Tuesday updates for Windows servers that affects VPN. See the 20-Jun-2022 BleepingComputer article Recent Windows Server Updates Break VPN, RDP, RRAS Connections. I know very little about server administration or whether this bug could cause the type of problem you're describing, but I first read about this VPN issue in Susan Bradley's June Updates Are Out in the AskWoody forum.

    Thank you - I'll share with our IT guy. I had no problems accessing the shared drive yesterday when it was mapped with IP address, but I'm also not that familiar with server admin.

    Interesting thing we learned today, if the files are not on the same domain as the computer, for example computer is joined to acme.local and the file shares are on acme.local the error goes away since it’s a trusted location per the defaults in excel.

    When pulling the file off another server, for example acme2.local and this server does have a trust relationship and we got the pink error. We migrated most of the files over today and haven’t had any calls except someone messing with macro settings, but that’s it. Sending a few emails and updating our GPO desktop shortcuts to the files fixed the mess, with a few reboots, Not saying this is the fix, but just sharing our experience.

    Microsoft azure support and office 365 support were no help, all they told me from

    Both depts is to run some Group Policies to block this. Even going the manual way of following the scripts those didn’t work.

    Microsoft better have a patch soon, I’m still not sure what update on the pc’s or server caused it.
