Hello All,

you might know that " Microsoft has blocked Macros from running through internet" do we have any permanent solution on this?

I have tried the below solution which doesn't work.

  1. Save the file to a local hard drive, network share, or cloud share like OneDrive.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer and go to the folder where you saved the file.
  3. Right-click the file and choose Properties from the context menu.
  4. At the bottom of the General tab, you should see a section for Security. Select the Unblock checkbox and select OK.

Also, tried to enable Macros through Macros settings through Trust center but didn't work?

is there any permanent solution on this?

Thanks,

AMit

Hi,

I think I found a solution to my problem.

The solution is to re-map the network drive to the fileserver name first and then adding that mapped directory to the trusted locations in excel.

Mapped Location:

\fileserver\networkdirectory and not \[192.xxx.xxx.xxx]\networkdirectory

Hope it helps someone out there.

Regards,

Ryno

    Hi All,

    Greetings!

While searching, I noticed some customers mentioned changing the Internet Option in Control Panel helped them resolve the scenario. The same suggestion is provided by Taku Mushonga in the above post.

Please check the link below where Lyndal JT has described the steps:

Source: Security Risk - Microsoft has blocked macros from running because the - Microsoft Community

Also, please check the support article below and ensure that admin settings are not applied to prevents users from inadvertently opening files containing macros from the internet.

Macros from the internet are blocked by default in Office - Deploy Office | Microsoft Docs

    Important

Organizations can use theBlock macros from running in Office files from the Internetpolicy to prevent users from inadvertently opening files from the internet that contain macros. We recommend enabling this policy as part of thesecurity baselinefor Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise. If you do enable the policy, your organization won’t be affected by this default change.

For more information, seeUse policies to manage how Office handles macros.

Please let us know if this makes any difference.

    Kind regards,

    Neha

Well our company is using the Microsoft office 365 for business with the Excel version 2205.

We normally download or open the desktop app from Share point and work on the Excel tool which has Macros/VBA in it.

After downloading from share point to my local downloads folder or Company's one drive folder and unlocking the trust from Excel file properties and also enabling the "Enable all Macros option" from Trust settings in Excel, I cant even open the Excel file now .Excel just loads to 100 % and fails to open. Any advice would be appreciated.

I eventually need everyone to open the SharePoint folder and work on the macro enabled Excel.

adding trusted sites directly in excel won't work on its own. I had to got o the internet options and go through process i posted above in order to unblock the Macros permanently for all the employees that needed to access the Macros files form the server.

    Hope this helps you.

This worked for one of our use cases.

Would be better if we can utilize the properties -> trust check box instead on networked (NAS or otherwise) Access/Excel/Word files though.
