Microsoft has blocked macros from running

Hi,

I have the same issue, it started yesterday. I have a mapped network drive within my organization and I want to add it to trusted locations. Excel does not allow me to add an IP address, only a name of the server. This is also problematic. The macro is trusted and it does run on my personal harddrive, just not the mapped network location. Because I know what I open, I usually "enable all macros (not recommended)" and accept the risk.

Guidance would be highly appreciated.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft community.  

Based on your description, we can understand that you want to enable Macros running from the internet, and you have tried to use safe practices to prevent phishing and malware, and instructions on how to enable these macros with these steps mentioned here and via Trust Center File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings... > Macro Settings, but you didn’t succeed! Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue. 

As you know that VBA macros are a common way for malicious actors to gain access to deploy malware and ransomware, to help improve security in Office, Microsoft changed the default behavior of Office applications to block macros in files from the internet. The methods you have tried are right, and Microsoft recommends them.  

But these methods are only effective when the Organization has not Blocked Macros via Group Policy. And in this case, I assume that your IT Admin configured Disabling Macros via Group Policy settings. Therefore, we’d suggest you contact your Admin to check if they enabled such policy, if so, you can contact them help change the policy. All the detailed information related to Macros blocked from internet and how these settings can be configured by Admin and users can be found in this article Macros from the internet will be blocked by default in Office.

At the same time, to better understand your situation, could you also provide the information below?

1. Could you provide the screenshot of alert message you encountered?
2. May I know if the other colleagues have the same problem?
3. Do you experience the same problem with other Office apps such as PowerPoint?
4. May I know the version of Excel you are using? please open Excel>File>Account and take a screenshot of that page. Please remember to mask any private information for your security.

Also, tried to enable Macros through Macros settings through Trust center but didn't work?

do you want to run this macro always?

if so,ask the author of this macro to sign a digital certificate.

1. If the macros are digitally signed and the matching Trusted Publisher certificate is installed on the device, the file is opened with the macros enabled. If not, then the evaluation continues.

Checking the Unblock checkbox always works for me. There is currently no setting to apply to all future downloads.
