Hello All,

you might know that " Microsoft has blocked Macros from running through internet" do we have any permanent solution on this?

I have tried the below solution which doesn't work.

  1. Save the file to a local hard drive, network share, or cloud share like OneDrive.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer and go to the folder where you saved the file.
  3. Right-click the file and choose Properties from the context menu.
  4. At the bottom of the General tab, you should see a section for Security. Select the Unblock checkbox and select OK.

Also, tried to enable Macros through Macros settings through Trust center but didn't work?

is there any permanent solution on this?

Hi,

I think I found a solution to my problem.

The solution is to re-map the network drive to the fileserver name first and then adding that mapped directory to the trusted locations in excel.

Mapped Location:

\fileserver\networkdirectory and not \[192.xxx.xxx.xxx]\networkdirectory

Hope it helps someone out there.

    Microsoft: STOP trying to save me from myself. You don't know what exactly what your users are doing, what works for them, what security is or is not appropriate in a given environment.

    You come up with hurdles to jump through to use VBA macros on spreadsheets I wrote and are on our internal network and you think you have to save me from myself. Suddenly you broke things and want me to fix it. I try to allow it to work in Trust Center settings and its response is I can't "for security reasons."

    Simply create/sign a certificate for me to run my own code? Seriously? I appreciate the extra caution you're warning us all about *but let me decide* if it's necessary or not.

    Hi,

    I have exactly the same problem. This is the pop-up I get when I try running my macro. My macro creates a template using "Set open_doc = CreateObject("Word.Application")" which uses the path "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Word

    That is a path which cannot be added into Trusted locations - The path you have entered cannot be used as a Trusted Location for security reasons.

    I also don't have the checkbox in the properties of the file.

    I need an override for this issue.. a way to directly write the trusted locations into the registry or something. Thank you.

    Microsoft is crazy they are destoying one of the competive advantages they have vs other sw office solutions! Today MS products are untrusted and they are blocked by me a my company because I've macro solutions in place and people dependent on them. They should revert the changes because all solutions they presented either are not working properly or they don't exist!

    This is a lame attempt by some folks at Microsoft trying to ruin Microsoft Excel without thinking of the millions of users using macros.
    I heard that they were rolling back the update but not sure. Everyone is now stuck and clueless.
